How do you actually get the great bastarding things to go and attack enemies on command? In an ideal world i'd have a squadron of animal all with different roles. If you are new to the game, make sure that you are always going with more animals as compared to one.
_ Wargs should be the main haulers eventhough they are hard to train, thx for their foods is corpses ( which should be plenty ), and their speed are just outstanding. Elephants, it's hard, but definitely doable with determination and planning.
